Bas-relief in memory of professor Nicolae Esanu

The bas-relief of Nicolae Esanu, university teacher and morphopathological specialist of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu”, was unveiled Friday in the Assembly Hall No. 8 of the Cardiology Polyclinic, which will bear Nicolae Esanu's name from today, Info-Prim Neo reports. Pro-rector Nicolae Esanu was a learned professor, good manager and noble man, his colleagues said during the unveiling ceremony. Lecturer Lilian Septefraţi, the chair of the Histology, Cystology and Embryology Department, said the late professor was a remarkable man who dedicated his life to the University of Medicine. “He worked at the University since graduation, except for two years of military service. He promoted the most progressive ideas and was a man of civilization,” he said. Medical student Veronica Gudmac said this bas-relief is a remembrance for Nicolae Esanu's students. She stated that new educational standards were worked out and implemented under Nicolae Esanu's guidance, in accordance with the requirements of the World Health Organization and the Bologna Process. Nicolae Esanu created information systems at his department, a system of international relations that facilitated the work of teachers and pro-deans, a science division and a system of transferable credits, and reduced the number of workdays to five. Nicolae Esanu was born on May 9, 1941 in Corjeuti, Briceni, in a family of farmers. In 1965, he abandoned his dream to become a surgeon and remained to work at the University of Medicine. He died on October 22, 2009, at the age of 68.
