10 kindergartens in Chisinau have delegated volunteers who will get involved in a pilot project to support disadvantaged children. The project is administrated by the High Level Group for supporting the children of Moldova, chaired by PM Vasile Tarlev and the European MP Baroness Emma Nciholson as co-chairman. Emma Nicholson appreciated the actions undertaken by the Group, after signing in October 2006 the collaboration protocol on Community Action for disadvantaged children. The European MP pledged to continue supporting the efforts undertaken by the authorities in Chisinau in this field. Minister of Education Victor Tvircun mentioned on Friday, March 30, at the meeting of the group that starting January 24, the date when the pilot project was launched, a series of art, literary and sports events were organised for the children from residential-type institutions and schools. According to the minister, by engaging in such events, the students from the special schools feel more confident, and the persons around them become more tolerant. “I hope that after the successful evaluation of this pilot scheme a National Strategy for community action will emerge that can be started in September”, said Baroness Emma Nicholson. Vice President of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, Baroness Emma Nicholson is known for her philanthropic actions.
