All citizens eligible to vote who reached the age of 18 can vote in the presidential election and the constitutional referendum. In order to avoid penalties, the citizens should know which actions are allowed and which are prohibited on election day, IPN reports, referring to the provisions of the electoral legislation

Political campaigning, transportation of voters, offering of particular goods in exchange for supporting a particular candidate, casting of the vote more than once or the entering of the voting booth by several people, except for citizens with special needs, are only some of the actions prohibited on election day.

Under the electoral legislation, on election day candidates running in elections are not allowed to appear in television. It is also banned closing the polling place, carrying weapons, photographing or filming inside polling stations, except for representatives of the press, or to photograph ballots. The first violation of this kind was committed by former MP of the Liberal Party Alina Zotea, who posted on social media a photo of her marked ballot. Zotea risks being fined, and her vote will be annulled.

On the other hand, on election day it is allowed to request a new ballot paper if the voter marked the wrong choice, or to request the mobile ballot box at home if the voter cannot go to the polling station. The extension of the polling station’s program can be requested if there are voters in the queue who were unable to vote.
