A Bankers League was created in Moldova. Its founding members are five bankers with an experience of over 20 years, the League’s president Dumitru Ursu said in a news conference on June 4, IPN reports.
The Bankers League constituted on April 15 is a nongovernmental, apolitical and nonprofit association that works based on the principles of freedom of association, equality of rights of all the members, freedom of expression, and self-management.
The organization is open to persons with a length of service in the banking system of at least five years, who have a good reputation, do not have a criminal record and are recommended by other members of the league. Besides the founding and active members, it also has members of honor. This category includes reputable personalities from the county and abroad, who contributed to the development of the financial and baking sector.
The league was created with the aim of promoting and strengthening the role of the bank industry in the national economy, and of supporting the professional dignity and image of the banker in society. It will state the consolidated position of its members on the economic and financial-banking policy pursued by the authorities and will organize public debates, conferences and meetings in order to analyze the situation in the financial-banking system. The league will also carry out joint activities with other associations and unions.
The league’s administrative bodies are: the General Assembly, the Administration Board, the president and the Censors Commission. The patrimony and financial resources will consist of membership dues, sponsorship and donations and of incomes earned from economic activities.
Dumitru Ursu said the Bankers League intends to intensely cooperate with the mass media. The association’s website is being designed. It will ensure transparency in the league’s work.
