The branches of Banca de Economii (BEM) started to release the deposits made in the former Sberbank, which were indexed according to the situation on January 2, 1992, based on applications submitted before September 30, 2014, IPN reports.

The central commission for deposit indexation reminds that the indexed deposits are paid in accordance with the Law on the Indexation of Citizens’ Deposits in Banca de Economii of December 12, 2002.

Currently, the depositors born before 1991 inclusive are paid back 1,000 rubles of their deposits according to the radio 1 Soviet ruble:1 leu, while the depositors born before 1931 inclusive can receive the money refunded at the second stage, according to the radio 2.5 rubles:1 leu.

A sum of 50 million lei for refunding the people’s deposits made at the BEM was earmarked in the state budget for this year.
