Ban on fishing to be imposed in several days

The prohibition on fishing comes into force on April 1. During 90 days, until the end of June, fishing in all the rivers and lakes of Moldova will be banned, the head of the Ministry of the Environment’s Water Resources Section Andrei Ursachi has told IPN.

The fine for illegal fishing is between 100 and 200 lei, while for violating the rules of protecting the pisciculture resources is between 200 and 400 lei. According to Ion Gratin, of the Pisciculture Service, about 200 fines were imposed in January-February for illegal fishing.

The fishing permit is issued by the Pisciculture Service. The permit for a day costs 30 lei, while for a year 300 lei. Pensioners pay 15 lei for a one-day permit and 150 lei for a one-year permit.

The prohibition on fishing in April-June applies to the section of the Prut River from the intersection of Moldova’s northern boarder with Ukraine up to Tetcan village, the Costesti-Stinca accumulation lake, the sector from the Costesti-Stinca barrage up to Giurgiulestii village and the Manta swaps, the section of the Nistru River between Naslavcea village and Camenca town, and to the Dubasari accumulation lake.

By derogation from the general rule, it is allowed fishing herring, except for a ten-day period during the mass migration.
