The Baltic countries plan to import more agricultural products from Moldova and this will lead to a rise in exports, said acting Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov. He has told IPN that he recently took part in an event in Berlin, where he discussed the issue with his counterparts from the Baltic states.
“Estonia expresses the greatest interest in our products. In February we will make a visit to this country to launch a project by which priority will be given to the import of Moldovan agricultural products,” said the official.
Vasile Bumacov noted that in Berlin he had a meeting with the Latvian Minister of Agriculture Janis Duklavs, who invited him to take part in the Riga Summit of this May and in the Riga Food exhibition. The Latvian side wants to import table grapes, wines and cognac from Moldova.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to IPN, trade between Moldova and the Baltic countries in the first nine months of last year came to about US$17 million, with exports totaling over US$11 million of this sum.
