Balti municipality has two new deputy mayors

Two new deputy mayors were appointed in Balti municipality. This is Leonid Babii, who is in charge of the economic sphere, and Lilia Sava, who is responsible for the social sphere. The two were voted in at the July 7 meeting of the Balti Municipal Council by a majority of votes, IPN reports.

Leonid Babii, who is a Doctor of Economic Sciences, told the press that he wants first of all to attentively examine how the budget resources have been used. He will also work out a strategic plan that will include the key goals for developing the town economically and financially.

Lilia Sava, who is a teacher by profession, said she will lay emphasis on education and will begin with examining the conditions in the education institutions of Balti. As regards the social, medical and social assistance, she said she needs first to inform herself about the existing problems and to set the objectives that must be achieved.

The two candidates were fielded by Mayor of Balti Renato Usatyi and were supported by the councilors of the Our Party, the Party of Socialists and the Party of Communists.

In the June 14 local elections, the Our Party won 26 seats in the Balti Municipal Council, the Party of Communists – three seats, the Party of Socialists – two seats, while the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Party of Moldova – Iurie Leanca”, the Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Party – by one seat.
