The Balti Municipal Council on February 15 took cognizance of the resignation tendered by Renato Usatyi from mayoralty on February 13, IPN reports.

The Council’s decision is to reach the Central Election Commission, which will announce new local mayoral elections in Balti municipality.

Nicolae Grigorishin, who was elected deputy mayor of Balti municipality on February 8, was named acting mayor.

Renato Usatyi won the local elections in Balti in June 2015, polling over 72% of the vote. On the Balti Municipal Council, the Political Party “Our Party” headed by Renato Usatyi holds 26 seats of councilor of 35.
