Bad news. No ex-Soviet country will join EU during next ten years?

Sweden and Poland suggest modifying the current format of the Eastern Partnership. They propose the EU should extend cooperation with these countries, but not offer them prospects of joining the European family in the near future, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the portal www.ava.md. Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski have drafted a document, which says that the enlargement of the EU by accepting former Soviet republics will not be possible during the next ten years, according to the news website www.vesti.ru. The letter was sent to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton. It says there are now no conditions for allowing new states to join the EU and the situation will not change at least until 2020. A representative of the EU confirmed to a correspondent of Itar-Tass that such a document exists. Bildt’s and Sikorski’s proposal will be examined in the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers on October 25.
