Backup power grids built for Varnita and Copanca localities

An 8 km medium-voltage power line was built to Varnița, Anenii Noi district, and another 1 km to Copanca village, Causeni district. A 10/6 kV link transformer was also installed. The networks are prepared to operate in standby mode in case of exceptional situations, the Reintegration Policy Office said, cited by IPN.

The measure has increased energy resilience and reduced energy security risks and will ensure the continuity of power supply to consumers in the two localities in the event of an outbreak of exceptional situations, the office said.

The decision to connect the electricity grids of the two localities to Premier Energy's electricity distribution grids was taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations after Gazprom halted, as of January 1, 2025, the supply of natural gas to the Transnistrian region of Moldova. Some localities under the jurisdiction of the constitutional authorities connected to the electricity distribution networks of the left bank of the Dniester river are exposed to related risks.
