The village of Baccealia in Causeni district inaugurated a photovoltaic power station intended to supply the artesian well with renewable energy. The project was carried out through the national program "European Express Village", with the support of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, which allocated 255,000 lei from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, IPN reports.
The new solar power plant has a capacity of 15 kW and is equipped with 28 photovoltaic panels, thus ensuring the supply of the artesian well exclusively from renewable sources.
According to the mayor of Baccealia Claudia Nenov, this project contributes significantly to maintaining an affordable price for drinking water, thus reducing the financial burden on the locals. "Thanks to this photovoltaic plant, we manage to keep the charge for water at 10 lei per cubic meter, even in the context of the energy crisis. At the same time, the mayor’s office no longer pays bills for water," said the mayor.
Given the lower energy consumption, the local authorities are considering the possibility of building an additional solar park, which will provide energy for public institutions, including the secondary school, kindergarten, house of culture and family doctors' office.
At the same time, the mayor’s office wants to build a public lighting system based on solar energy in order to reduce costs and support the transition to a sustainable energy consumption model.
In parallel, Baccealia was selected for another project, funded by the National Program "European Village", which aims to build 4 kilometers of sewerage networks. The first stage of the project, with an investment of 7.5 million lei, will allow the connection of 150 households, with almost 600 beneficiary inhabitants. Also, public institutions, including the family doctors' office and the house of culture, will be integrated into the modernized sewerage network.
The mayor’s office hopes to obtain additional funding for the expansion of the sewerage infrastructure and the connection of all residents and economic agents in the commune.
The commune of Baccealia, which includes the villages of Plop, Florica and Tricolici, has a population of over 1,500 inhabitants, including 260 children.
