Baccalaureate exam pass rate close to 70%

The number of graduates who passed the national Baccalaureate exams increased by 53 after the examination of appeals to 12,580. The final results were published on Thursday. The total pass rate grew by 0.3 percentage points to 69.68%, compared to 68.76% at the same stage of the 2023 session, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, after the preliminary results were announced, more than 9,500 appeals were submitted out of the total number of over 66,600 grades given in the basic session, which represents 14.32%. Percentage-wise, the number of appeals filed in the 2024 session does not differ significantly from that in the 2023 session. Most of the appeals referred to grades in the Romanian language and literature exam.

Following the examination of appeals, 17.85% of the number of grades were increased.

The average of average grades got by high school graduates in the 2024 session did not change compared to that recorded in the 2023 session. Thus, for high school candidates, the average of average grades for the 2024 national Baccalaureate exams is 7.34, compared to 7.33 in 2023.

A number of 57 high school graduates passed the national Baccalaureate exams with grades of 10 in all the tests, compared to 47 candidates in the 2023 session. As many as 924 candidates have an average grade higher than or equal to 9, compared to 962 in 2023.

The additional national Baccalaureate exams session will be held during July 15-22. The preliminary results will be posted on July 24, while the final ones – after the examination of appeals, on July 29.
