As a result of requests for grade reviews submitted during June 26-28, the pass rate for the Baccalaureate exams, shortly known as BAC, increased by 0.85 percentage point to 68.77% compared to the preliminary result announced on June 26.
At the same time, the BAC pass rate increased by 5 percentage points from last year, the Ministry of Education said in a press release.
After the preliminary results were announced, 9,812 appeals for review were submitted, representing 15.44% of the total number of exam papers. Grades for the Romanian grammar and literature exam were the most appealed – 2,540.
The review process resulted in 2,272 grades being raised. Consequently, the number of BAC examinees with an average grade of 7 or above increased to 6,021.
2,526 examinees got an average grade of 8 or higher, and 595 examinees averaged 9 or above. 18 examinees got straight 10s, compared to 6 last year.
About 17 thousand candidates took the BAC exams this year.
