Baby boy dies when dragged by car about 200 meters
A one-year-old child was killed in a road accident on Sunday, March 28. When a car driven by an inebriated man struck the baby carriage, the child sprung out of it and was dragged by the car on a distance of about 200 meters. His sister aged seven was also injured in the accident. His mother is in a state of shock. A seven-year-old boy was killed in another traffic accident the same day. He was traveling in a car driven by his drunk father.
Paulina Iakimovski, of the Traffic Police Division's PR department, has told Info-Prim Neo that the first accident happened in the center of Chetrosu village of Anenii-Noi district on Sunday evening.
A young family with two children was crossing legally the street when a BMW swept away the carriage with the one-year-old boy in it. The driver did not stop. The parents and the police had looked for the boy during about two hours. They found him dead on the roadway about 200 meters away. The police identified the driver shortly afterward. It was a man aged 37 who did not have a driver's license. The breath test showed he was drunk.
Another inebriated driver caused an accident in Dubasarii-Vechi village of Criuleni district. The 41-year-old man was speeding, lost control of the car and crashed it into a concrete pillar. His son aged seven died on the spot.
On Monday night, a 22-year motorcyclist skidded and crashed his vehicles into a lamp post on Gheorghe Asachi St in Chisinau. The young man died at the scene.
The16 road accidents that happened in Moldova on Sunday resulted in three deaths and 16 persons injured. Fifty-four persons lost their lives in traffic accidents this year.
