Azeri experts to visit Moldova to explore oil
A group of Azeri experts will visit Moldova in June this year to explore possibilities of extracting oil on the country’s territory. It was agreed on this matter during the two-day Premier Vasile Tarlev’s official visit to Azerbaijan.
Tarlev told a news conference that Azerbaijan has rich experience in extracting oil and could provide assistance in this sector to Moldova, which is at an incipient stage.
The Prime Minister mentioned that cooperation between Moldova and Azerbaijan started when the Giurgiulesti oil terminal was under construction, finalised with the support of Azeri Company "Azpetrol". The Premier specified that oil deposits exist on Moldova’s territory at a depth of over 1200 m and they could be exploited.
At the same time, the Moldovan delegation visited the most important oil terminal in Azerbaijan - Sangacialsk, built with the support of many companies from the country, as well as from Georgia, Russia, Turkey. The Terminal is situated on a surface of 540 hectares, exports petrol and natural gas, has over 500 employees with a monthly average salary of about USD 500.
Also, the Moldovan delegation members and businessmen had talks with the members of the Association "Caspian Energy", which brings together over 300 companies operating in the oil sector from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.
