Awards of 22nd International Children’s and Youth Book Fair

The awardees of the 22nd International Children’s and Youth Book Fair became known on April 22, IPN reports.

The “Ion Creanga” Award of the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau was conferred on writer Vladimir Besleaga for activity in the field of children’s book. The “Igor Vieru” Award of the same institute went to author of children’s books Victoria Rata for activity in the field of illustration of children’s books.

Chairman of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceveanu won the “Grigore Vieru” Poetry Award that was also provided by the Romanian Cultural Institute. The “Book of the Year” Award of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research went to Claudia Partole for the book “Invisible”. Based on the decision of the children’s jury, the “Children’s Sympathy” Award was given to writer Spiridon Vangheli for the book “Craita”.

The “Cognitive Book” Award went to the publishing house “Stiinta” for the book “Bessarabia during the Great Union of 1918” and to Ioan-Aurel Pop for the book “A short illustrated history of the Romanians”. The “Reference Book” Award went to the publishing house “Litera” for the illustrated encyclopedia “Wild Animals”. The “Best Children’s Book Collection” was won by the publishing house “Gama” of Iasi, for the collection “Stories for Kids”.

Marina Andruhina won the “Best Graphic Presentation of the Book” for the graphic presentation of the book “Paparuda, ruda”. Violeta Zabulica-Diordiev won the “Best Book Illustration in the Original” for the illustration of the book “Lola cea frumoasa” by Claudia Partole, while Valeriu Herta won the same award for the illustration of the book “Dorinta” by Mihai Eminescu.

The “Best Translation” Award was won by Catalin Georgescu for the translation of the book “List of Sputnik, the alien dog” by Frank Cottrell Boyce and to Teoctist Caia for the translation of the book “On the Bank of God’s River” by Serghei Nilus. The book distribution society “Pro Noi” was awarded for the Nicest Stand.

The TV channel TVR Moldova won the Mass Media Award. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research offered special awards to writer Vasile Romanciuc for the book “Light of inner voice”, writer Aurelian Silvestru for the book “Angels disappear in the rain” and the publisher houses “Stiinta” and “Arc” for the collection “Literature of Bessarabia. Start of the 21st century”.

The National Commission for UNESCO conferred the special award on writer Iulian Filip for the volume “Iulian Filip in interfering acts”. The Chisinau City Hall offered the same prize to Radu Osadcenco for the book “Chisinau 1918: Guide-album of the city” and to Ion Muscalu for the book “Zia, Queen of Costoboci”.

Special awards from the National Association of Creation Unions were won by Daniel Corbu and Lidia Grosu. The Writers Union awarded Renata Verejanu, while the Union of Plastic Artists - Estela Raileanu.

The IBBY National Section of the Library “Ion Creanga” offered special awards to Titus Stirbu, Marcela Mardare, the publishing house “Princeps Multimedia” of Iasi for the bilingual book “The knight with wings of petals” by Aurelian Silvestru, to Eugen Doga, Petre Craciun, Elena Fluturel, Mihai Stefan Poiata and others.

The municipal library “B. P. Hasdeu” conferred the “Best Book for Children with Visual Imperilments” Award to Alina Purcaru for the book “Catrina and the Big Domn-Somn”. The Association of Librarians offered the “Most Original Publication in Bibliology” Award to the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” and to Mariana Harjevschi.
