The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport has offered premiums to the managers of 31 kindergartens in Chisinau. The size of the premiums was not made known. The best kindergartens were selected as a result of the traditional inspections carried out by the Division at yearend, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a working meeting with kindergarten managers on December 16, Florica Rusu, the head of the Division’s Preschool Education Service, said that measures had been taken in almost all the municipal nursery schools so as to create adequate educational conditions for the children. “The internal documents have been officially registered, the teaching and technical-material basis has been improved, the children have been prepared for school, etc. The canteens meet the sanitary conditions, while the food provided to the children meets the relevant norms,” Florica Rusu said. She also said that a large part of the measures were implemented with the support of the parents. The Division allotted about 12.9 million lei for the purpose. However, the inspections revealed certain drawbacks. The roofs and fences of some of the institutions are in need of repair. The municipal authorities promised to allocate more money for solving these problems. A number of 147 preschool institutions out of the 149 registered work in the municipality of Chisinau at present. About 29,600 children go to these kindergartens.
