The average official salary as from January 2022 will be 9,900 lei. A draft decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.

Vasile Cușca, secretary of state at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, said the proposal is based on the macro-economic indicators for 2022-2024 forecast by the Ministry of Economy.

Recently, the national commission for collective consultations and negotiations discussed proposals to raise the minimum guaranteed salary in the real sector that is now 2,935 lei. As of next February, this is to be increased to 3,500 lei. The dialogue will be resumed to consider raising the minimum salary again in May. The authorities agree with trade unions that this should be increased to 4,000 lei.
