The garbage accumulated in the capital city during the last five days, since the residents of Tantareni have blocked access to the local waste dump, is taken to a field on Uzinelor St, near the Purcel mine. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, vice director of the cleanup facility “Autosalubritate” Victor Serghienco said the places available there can accommodate the refuse that will be collected by this weekend. The Chisinau City Hall is looking for a place for a new waste dump. The Institute of Geology, the ecological bodies and the Preventive Medicine Center were asked to identify a suitable place. The Anenii Noi district council’s decision to renew the contract with the Chisinau administration for the storage of waste in Tantareni for another three years aroused the dissatisfaction of the villagers, who complain than the waste dump is a source of infection. On January 8, a group of about 20 residents blocked the road to the waste dump. The municipal authorities stooped sending trucks with garbage there so as not to stir things up.
