Autumn sowing campaign starts in Transnistrian region
Farmers in the Transnistrian region have started the autumn sowing campaign with a slight delay because of the drought. A total of 80,000 hectares of land are expected to be sown, the local news service PMRinform reported.
Rains that fell over the past week prompted farmers in the districts of Dubasari, Slobozia and Grigoriopol to start the works. However, the situation remains difficult in the northern districts which continue to be deprived of rainfall.
Farmers will mostly sow autumn varieties of wheat, barley and rye. 20,000 hectares have been reserved for rape.
