The entire batch of 30 new EFE cars on Renault chassis, purchased within the “Solid Waste Chisinau” project, was delivered to the municipal road maintenance company “Autosalubritate”. The rear-loading trucks have a capacity of 13 cubic meters (10 garbage trucks) and 16 cubic meters (20 garbage trucks), IPN reports.
The transport units are also equipped with Euro 6 diesel engines. “It is the largest batch of newly purchased vehicles, not only in the history of Chisinau, but also in the history of the Republic of Moldova and reflects the commitment of the Chisinau City Hall and the municipal sanitation operator to provide high-quality services in the field of waste management,” said the municipality.
The project was financed by the Chisinau City Hall and international investors - the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership.
Last year alone, the entire fleet of special vehicles of the municipal sanitation operator was modernized and expanded with a total of 44 new trucks.
The Chisinau City Hall and the municipal company noted that they will continue to invest in the modernization and expansion of the fleet and not only, to ensure an efficient and modern waste management service. Also, a new transfer station with a sorting line will be built and the municipal landfill in Ţâtăreni will be modernized. A number of projects to raise awareness and educate the community on waste sorting rules will be implemented.
