Automobilists mobilize for march against rise in fuel prices

Automobilists decided to stage a march against the increase in fuel prices in the central square of Chisinau on June 2, starting at 10am, and are mustering support through Facebook, on the initiative of the community AutoLife Moldova. In two days, over 1,000 persons announced their intention to take part in the event, IPN reports.

The initiative group recommends the participants to come to the march with units of transport or to come on foot if they do not have cars. Internet users responded by such comments: “Such a march should be held all over Moldova”, “I will come with the family”, “Time has come”.

Initially, the automobilists intended to stage the march on Sunday, June 3, but ultimately decided to hold this on Saturday so that it didn’t coincide with the mayoral elections in Chisinau.

The fuel price ceilings have been raised for several weeks in a row. Until June 12, the ceilings will be 19.79 lei per liter of gasoline ‘95’ and 17.75 lei per litter of diesel fuel.
