The Ministry of Health is launching a nationwide campaign themed “With watchful mind” in cooperation with the local office of the World Health Organization. The campaign is aimed at reducing alcohol use among the population. Within it, there will be spread brochures about the damage caused by alcohol abuse. Videos promoting a healthy lifestyle will be broadcast on radio and TV, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, the campaign is intended mainly for drivers and pregnant women and for teens. Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi said measures are needed to reduce the dangers related to alcohol use by regulating advertising for alcoholic products, raising the legal age limit, and providing the people dependant on alcohol with counseling programs.
The adult population of Moldova older than 15 consumers about 18 liters of pure alcohol per capita, which is one of the highest indexes in the world.
