The authorities will be obliged to adjust the salaries of prosecutors at least to the rate of inflation now that the Constitutional Court pronounced on the challenge filed by ex-acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu, IPN reports.
The former acting prosecutor general asked to establish the constitutionality of provisions of the law on common pay grades in the public sector.
The Constitutional Court recognized as constitutional Article 12, par. (15), 29 (2) and annex No. 4 to table 1 as regards the provisions concerning prosecutors of the law on common pay grades in the public sector, given that the annual adjustment of the reference value of prosecutors’ pay is mandatory and is based at least on the annual average rate of inflation on the day the state budget law for the next year is adopted.
The Constitutional Court’s decision is definitive, cannot be challenged and takes effect when it is adopted.
