Authorities urged to refrain from making political statements over embargo

The Moldovan authorities are requested to refrain from making impolite political statements against the eastern partners over the embargo imposed by Russia on the Moldovan wine. In a news conference at IPN, the chairman of the public association “Moldova Mea” Fiodor Ghelici said the Russian Federation takes care of its people and if some of the companies supply wine of a poor quality to this country, they should deal with the consequences.

“When the relations between the commercial partners are based on respect, some of the violations are ignored. But when one of the partners slams the other partner and has an offensive behavior, the other partner can get angry and there appear different conflict situations,” said Fiodor Ghelici, calling on the authorities not to take measures that can worsen the relations between the two states.

“We discussed with grape producers and they told us that the owners of wine companies assured them that they will purchase the grapes so that nobody stops work.”

The chairman of “Moldova Mea” said it is convenient for the Moldovan businessmen to export products to the CIS as the quality standards of these states can be met easier than those of the EU, where the Moldovans practically export no finished products.

According to Fiodor Ghelici, the authorities for many years haven’t organized a congress of businessmen to find out their opinions about the real situation in the economy. “How can they propose solutions for remedying the situation if they do not speak to the people who are involved in this process daily?” he asked.

The entrepreneurs of “Moldova Mea” called upon the authorities to discuss with the ordinary people and not to make comments in the name of enterprises.
