Authorities say that all localities will have electric power within 2 days

Vladimir Antosii, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure told a press conference on Saturday, January 6, that in 1 or 2 days all the localities disconnected from electric power networks because of the strong wind and abundant snow will be reconnected, Info-Prim Neo reports. The minister asserts that about 1000 pillars of 10 KV have been affected; they are to be replaced. Till now, the ministry found about 600; the rest are currently manufactured at a production capacity of 35 pillars per day. The minister also specified that the towns of Leova and Cantemir, which haven’t been connected yet to the power supply network, will be reconnected during Saturday, January 6 or till Sunday at 14.00. From the total of 382 localities which have been affected by the natural calamity, 232 localities are still out of electric power on January 6, of which 177 are totally disconnected and 55 – partially. Vladimir Antosii told the press that the employers, who have participated in works related to the elimination of calamity’s consequences, are currently working in special regime – their working day starts at 7 in the morning and continues till it gets dark. In some cases, the staff continues to work even when it is dark at the light from reflectors. Antosii mentioned that at the moment Moldova faces a real exceptional situation, more serious than that in 2000 when the north of the country has been affected. The minister added that each 2 hours he is giving a report about the working process to the Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev. Info-Prim Neo specifies that about 2/3 from Moldova’s territory has been disconnected from electric power network on January 3, because of snow and strong wind.
