The Ministry of Education informs that the second volume titled Sexual Life, of the Medical Encyclopedia of the Family, Larousse, was donated to the Republic of Moldova by Romania last summer. The Ministry, in cooperation with other governmental institutions, only received and distributed the books to settlements. The Ministry made the statements in reaction to the demand of representatives of civil society to withdraw the encyclopedia from the school libraries, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The consignment donated by the Romanian state included books written by famous writers, which are intended for the general public. Most of the books are studied in the Romanian and universal literature courses at school. The volume that aroused discussions among NGO members forms part of the Larousse collection, the Medical Encyclopedia of the Family, which consists of eight volumes. Larousse is a prestigious brand, recognized worldwide,” the Ministry of Education said in a press release. On February 26, representatives of a number of public associations demanded that the authorities should withdraw the Medical Encyclopedia of the Family from school libraries as it promotes homosexuality and sexual perversion.
