A consignment of 100,000 test kits for detecting COVID-19 that is purchased by the authorities from China is to be delivered to Moldova. The test kits of China turned out to be the most efficient and rapid ones, President Igor Dodon announced after the common meeting with Prime Minister Ion Chicu and Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi, IPN reports.
“There are sufficient test kits at this stage. Moreover, all those who are suspected of being infected with the novel coronavirus, who have the first symptoms are tested in the Republic of Moldova. I want to note that in some of the countries where the pandemic is extensive, they test only those who are in a serious state, not yet those with symptoms. We, in the Republic of Moldova, test all those who have symptoms and who ask to be tested. The number of tests done daily rose to over 2,000,” stated President Dodon.
The official said the authorities keep in touch with the senior administration of China so as to ensure the delivery of the test kits. The goal is to secure supplies for the next stage.
A charter flight will be organized to transport the test kits. Simultaneously, there will be brought a consignment of humanitarian aid offered by China.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova on March 17. As many as 263 infections with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova so far. Of these, 13 persons recovered, while two died.
