The State Road Administration signed a contract to the value of over €36 million with the company MSF Engenharia for the rehabilitation of two sections of the national road R14 Balti – Sarateni, with the length of almost 30 km, IPN reports.

Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari told a news conference that contracts to the value of €287 million for the rehabilitation and construction of 16 road segments with the total length of 330 km will be signed this year.

The works within the contract signed on March 2 will be performed during the next two years. The contractor was selected at a tender contest. “When this project is completed, in two years, the people will be able to travel on a better road from Chisinau to Balti. This way we practically launch a new road rehabilitation stage in 2015,” said the minister.

The existing road system on the Balti – Sarateni road will be rehabilitated. On some segments, the road will be widened and a new road system will be built. There will be laid out the intersections and built bridges, underground and surface water collection and drainage systems.

Vasile Botnari called on the construction companies to obey the work timetables so as not to face penalties, including the termination of contracts.
