Cimislia district has 39 settlements and 23 mayor’s offices. The district’s population totals over 60,000.
The local public authorities from Cimislia district work miracles with the available financial resources and aim to improve the situation in different areas. However, poverty causes havoc and the administration in some cases is cannot stop it, said Nina Nenescu, teacher of the Romanian language and literature at the Theoretical Lyceum “Mihai Eminescu” of Cimislia town.
The teacher said the authorities make considerable effort to improve the situation by establishing relations with foreign partners and winning projects and grants. Among the priorities of the local authorities are to help the socially deprived groups of people and to finance particular education and cultural institutions. Half of the projects promised in the previous election campaign were implemented or are under implementation, depending on the partners’ involvement and the administration’s optimism for coping with minimum resources.
”The authorities work miracles with the available funds and make effort to improve the situation in different areas. The current administration could continue its activity, at least for implementing the initiated projects, the biggest one being a project to create an industrial park and an agricultural commercial center for the southern region. I cannot forecast the future, but I know that the district needs financing projects in agriculture, ecology and light industry. Special attention should be devoted to the country’s future – education and health,” said Nina Nenescu.
She also said that remarkable results were achieved in the district, in particular in Cimislia, Selemet, Satul Nou, Hartop and Javgur. For the local administration to become efficient, the Government should cooperate and support the mayor’s offices by covering a part of the costs and not only. In some cases, the villages go to rack and ruin because they do not have good specialists in the administrative bodies and do not enjoy the Government’s support.
The teacher voiced hope that the senior state officials have at least a part of the education of some of the local mayors and that these will pay attention to the needs of the local public authorities that bear the burden of the people without having support. The candidates running in this year’s local elections include many honest and enthusiastic persons, but the people must choose those who can work without much money, only based on initiatives, as this is what counts.
