The personalities who in 2023 imposed themselves in the cultural life of the Republic of Moldova, in various fields of creation, were honored at the Ministry of Culture Awards Gala. “They succeeded through aptitude, dedication and passion, through titanic work and originality. They succeeded through boundless fidelity to this not easy path they chose as a profession and vocation in life,” Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan stated, referring to the laureates of the edition, IPN reports.
The official noted that it was not easy for the institution to decide the laureates of the Ministry of Culture awards. From dozens of creative personalities, they were to choose those who abundantly represent the past year d and the artistic phenomena of this year. “I’m sure that we weren’t wrong, although it was very difficult and sometimes opinions were differing. This exercise revealed, once again, a gratifying truth – we have who to be proud of. We have great and talented artists. We have people dedicated to national culture in the most remote corners of the country. We have creative and innovative potential that generates new talents. We just have to believe in our powers, be ambitious and keep the faith that dedication, inspiration and support are needed to reach the highest peaks at home or anywhere in the world. Congratulations, obeisance and a lot of success in the future, dear colleagues, in the name of our Romanian culture through which we identify ourselves as a nation and become more spiritually united,” said Sergiu Prodan.
President Maia Sandu said that the winners of the Ministry of Culture awards are those who, through effort and talent, proved to be spearheads, whether they excelled in literature, theater, film, fine arts, visual arts or music, museography and cultural diplomacy. “I thank each of you for your contribution to the development of national culture. Through you, Moldova has something to show the world. It has something to show itself,” noted the official.
The “Valeriu Cupcea” award in the field of theatrical art went to actor and director Sergiu Chiriac. Writers Nicolae Popa and Lorina Balteanu won the “Constantin Stere” award in the field of literature. The “Vladimir Curbet” award in the field of dance was offered to the National Ballet Group JOC. The director of the National Music High School “Ciprian Porumbescu”, Valeriu Luța, was honored with the “Veniamin Apostol” award in the field of artistic education.
The “Isidor Burdin” award in the field of intangible heritage was given to the founder of “MăiestrIA” community, Stela Moldovanu. Journalist Maria Ivanov was conferred the “Gheorghe Cincilei” award in the field of promotion of cultural image in the media. Elena Bontea, plastic artist, won the “Mihai Grecu” award in the field of fine arts. The “Emil Loteanu” award in the field of cinematography went to Ioane Bobeica, screenwriter and director of the film “Thunders”.
The “Stefan Ciobanu” award in the field of cultural heritage conservation and museography was handed over to Svetlana Chiriac, painter-restorer at the National Museum of Arts; the “Gavriil Musicescu” award in the field of music – to “Concertino” accordion ensemble led by Eugen Negruta, master of art; the “Ion Madan” award in the field of librarianship and bibliographic sciences – to Nelly Turcan, doctor habilitate, professor, researcher.
The “Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu” award in the field of visual arts was received by plastic artist Pavel Obreja. Cristina Țurcanu, head of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Division of the Drochia District Council and Diana Josu-Braniște, head of the Culture Division of the Ialoveni District were honored with the title of best manager of local cultural institution. The lifetime achievement award went to Anatol Vitu, violinist, composer and conductor. The special prize “Cultural Diplomacy” was awarded to pianist Marcel Lazăr and accordionist Radu Rățoi, holder of the title of world accordion playing champion.
The diploma of merit for promoting documentary theatre went to director Luminița Țâcu; the diploma of merit for promoting interventions in historical monuments – to architect Mihai Andrieș (for essential contribution to the restoration of the “Steam Mill” in Mereşeni, Hâncești, the Wooden Church in Vorniceni, Strășeni and other objects of national importance); the diploma for promoting the built heritage of Chisinau municipality – to researcher Anetta Dabija, for the promotion of the historical heritage of the capital city.
The Ministry of Culture 2023 Awards Gala was held at the Palace of the Republic, in the presence of over 250 guests, including officials, diplomats and culture workers from all over the country.
