Chisinau City Hall plans to design and build a new trolleybus line in Botanica district this year which will cross Hristo Botev street, Independentei street and Dacia Boulevard. The given issue was included in the agenda set for Thursday’s sitting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, but it was not discussed due to the large number of items approved for debates. The draft law is to be discussed on another day. Interim director of Transport and Communications Department, Alexei Varlan told Info-Prim Neo that the construction works could be completed during the summer. As he says, the length of the trolleybus line is estimated at about 3.1 km, while the cost of works could amount to about MDL 7.8 mln. Alexei Varlan mentioned that, according to the Concept on municipal transport development, City Hall plans to build more trolleybus lines in the near future: a trolleybus line on Munceşti Street; another one to merge Botanica district with Ciocana district via Uzinelor and Voluntarilor streets and a trolleybus line to Cricova town. The Concept also stipulates building trolleybus lines which will merge Ismail Street with Petricani Street and another one that will connect Zelinschi Street and Gradina Botanica. The implementation of this project depends on the real financial possibilities of the municipal budget, Vârlan concluded, Info-Prim Neo reports.
