The authorities warn that false report saying that there will be no electricity in Moldova from Tuesday, December 17, is being disseminated through social media, IPN reports.

"It's a falsehood. Our country is provided with electricity, and the authorities are working to maintain the stability of supply," says the platform "Prima Sursă”, a channel for verifying government information.

Starting today, December 16, the Republic of Moldova is in a state of emergency for a period of 60 days. The measure was requested by the Government and approved by Parliament in connection with the situation in the energy sector.

Regarding the power supply, Energocom recently informed that it had discussions with S.N. Nuclearelectrica and OMV Petrom to negotiate the replacement of electricity imports at a preferential price, until the end of March 2025. The companies expressed their readiness to increase the amount of electricity sold to Energocom for the given period.

The authorities also assure that all measures have been taken to increase the volumes of electricity generated in Moldova, and Moldelectrica said that it successfully tested the operation of the four 110 kV lines that ensure interconnection with Romania, where the maximum capacity used will reach 110 MW. At the same time, discussions are being held with the European electricity network ENTSO-E in order to increase the capacity provided to the Republic of Moldova on interconnections with Romania.
