Authorities consider as modest the crop of barley and autumn wheat
The crops of barley and autumn wheat in this year are lower than registered in 2005, according to the report presented by Anatolie Gorodenco, minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, at the meeting of the Republican Staff for coordinating and promptly solving issues regarding the crops of I group cereals and vegetables.
According to him, of those 33 800 hectares of autumn barley, 76100 tones were harvested, the average productivity being of 22.6 quintal/hectare. In 2005, of a surface of 51 800 hectares 127 700 tones were harvested, with a productivity of 24.7 q/ha.
98.8%, or 70 700 hectares of the surfaces planted with spring barley was harvested, being obtained 167,000 tones of spring barley. In 2005, 125,000 tones of barley were harvested, with a productivity of 23.6 q/ha.
The harvested surface of autumn wheat has reduced by 28%, compared with 2005. Of those 252 900 hectares 99% were harvested. The global production constituted 677 000 tones, compared with 1 million tones in 2005. It also the productivity has also reduced – from 30.4 q/ha in 2005 to 27 q/ha.
Compared with the past years the gluten content of the grains has increased up to 26%. The percentage between the food wheat and the fodder wheat has also increased - 55:45 %, the highest over the past 5 years.
On the whole, 397 000 hectares cereals and vegetables of the 1st group were harvested, by over 100,000 hectares more than in 2005. Instead, the global volume of the crops has decreased – from 1.3 million tones, in 2005, to 1 million in 2006.
