Authorities concerned about slow vaccination pace

The health authorities are very concerned about the slow pace of immunization against the novel coronavirus. Over 25,000 vaccine doses were administered last week, a 24% decline on a week before. In a news conference, Svetlana Nicolaescu, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, said the vaccination process is very slow. The citizens who got vaccinated against COVID-19 in EU member states should register the vaccine certificate in the national electronic vaccination system, IPN reports.

The functionary noted the efforts that will be made to ensure collective immunity will influence the developments the next few months. Vaccines remain the most effective remedy against COVID-19.

“About 26% of the people in the Republic of Moldova have completed the vaccine series so far. The figure refers to the general population and was calculated based on the population data presented by the National Bureau of Statistics. When we recalculate the indicators based on the real number of people, we obtain a rate of about 30%. We note that these statistics do not include persons who got vaccinated abroad,” said the secretary of state.

Svetlana Nicolaescu noted the citizens who got vaccinated against COVID-19 in the EU member states can register the European vaccine certificate in the national electronic vaccination system (SIA RVC-19). These persons can get the second dose in Moldova even if the first dose was administered to them abroad.

To transfer the vaccine certificate issued by any EU member state to the national information system, the citizens should visit www.certificate-covid.gov.md, www.vaccinare.gov.md or www.ansp.md.

About 893,000 persons completed the COVID-19 vaccine series in Moldova by now. The number of COVID-19 cases in Moldova totals over 348,000.
