Authorities are considering measures to reduce negative effects on businesses

The authorities are examining a set of measures designed to diminish the negative effects on businesses in the current epidemiological situation. Among these are to defer the payment of income taxes for legal entities and to extend the deadline by which particular statements and reports must be submitted. The subject was discussed by Prime Minister Ion Chicu in a meeting with representatives of the business community, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

The participants exchanged opinions on how the businesspeople can be helped to overcome the crises generated by COVID-19 with minimal losses. Minister of Finance Serghei Pușcuța said that among the examined measures is the institution of a moratorium on state inspections, reduction of the VAT rate for the hospitality industry, exemption of some of the enterprises from performing the mandatory audit of financial situations, etc.

“The extraordinary situation requires extraordinary decisions. The crisis will definitely generate losses, but together we will identify solutions to reduce them. Only acting together, we can maintain the stability of the budgetary-fiscal system. Currently, the amounts collected into the budget are by 14% higher than in the corresponding period last year. We must decide the policies and measures needed to minimize the effects of this crisis,” stated Premier Chicu.

National Bank governor Octavian Armașu said that the central bank has sufficient reserves and intends to take monetary relaxation measures. Changes were made to the regulatory framework so as to allow the commercial banks to enjoy greater flexibility in the lending relations with private individuals.
