Representatives of the local public authorities and of the NGO sector must joint efforts and identify solutions to improve the conditions of the children who remained without parental care and of those from socially deprived families. Such an opinion was stated in a roundtable meeting staged by the Chisinau Child Rights Protection Division, IPN reports.
The head of the Association “Child, Community. Family” Moldova (CCF) Liliana Rotaru said that in the current conditions of political and economic crisis and given the decentralization reform, the disadvantaged families and their children are hit the worst so that urgent measures are needed to support them. Civil society must submit suggestions to the public authorities so as to jointly ensure decent conditions for children in difficulty.
The Child Rights Protection Division’s head Svetlana Chifa said that an analysis of the existent policies is needed so that these could be adjusted. For the situation in the area of social services to be improved, the local public authorities should be ready for transparent cooperation with the NGOs.
The participants in the debate signed a social public appeal to the Government and Parliament, asking initiating a discussion platform on the situation of the socially deprived families and identifying solutions to their problems.
Debates themed “Local partnerships for the benefit of families and children from the community” were also held in 13 districts within the project “Strengthening of the capacity of civil society for the inclusive participation of the most marginalized parents and children”, which is financed by the EU.
