Author of famous rooster from “Punguta cu doi bani” tale meets Chisinau children
Painter, illustrator and university lecturer Alexei Colabneac had a meeting with Chisinau pupils. The December 16 gathering forms part of the series of cultural events “Dialogue of Generations” organized under the auspices of the Municipal Children’s Library “Ion Creanga”.
“The given cultural events are designed to familiarize the young generation with the works and life of the renowned people of culture of Moldova. Alexei Colabneac is a personality, an artist who is probably known by all the children through the agency of those about 100 children’s books illustrated by him,” said Claudia Balaban, the director of “Ion Creanga” library.
According to Gheorghe Vrabie, the plastic artist that made Moldova’s coat of arms, Alexei Colabneac represents a shining example for the Bessarabian plastic arts as he taught a large number of plastic artists and illustrated a lot of books.
“The books illustrated by Colabneac influenced for ever the imagination of the Bessarabian children. Who doesn’t know the famous rooster from “Punguta cu doi bani” tale, who is larger than the whole herd,” Gheorghe Vrabie asked rhetorically.
In 2006, the International Children’s Book Council included Alexei Colabneac in the list of the best illustrators of books for children.
