Author of false bomb threat at Russian Embassy called from fixed-line phone
The police identified the man who announced that a bomb had been planted at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. Adrian Jovmir, the head of the General Police Commissariat's press office, told Info-Prim Neo the 35-year-old man from Nisporeni town phoned from his fixed-line phone. He is not married and lives with his parents.
The man got angry because the Russian Ambassador refused him a meeting despite his repeated requests. He wanted to inform the Ambassador about the violation of certain rights. The last time, a representative of the Embassy said a special procedure is required before meeting the Ambassador. Thus, the man decided to make a bomb threat.
The man told the police he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. He faces up to two years in jail, a fine of 4,000 to 10,000 lei, or 180 to 240 hours of community service.
The false bomb alert at the Russian Embassy is the sixth this year.
