The inhabitant of Tohatin commune who killed a woman in Colonița this spring was sentenced to 30 years in jail on three counts – theft, violent acts of a sexual character and deliberate murder, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the 28-year-old man, being under the influence of alcohol, sexually abused a woman, asphyxiated her, stole her mobile phone and disappeared. When being questioned by prosecutors, the culprit, who was earlier convicted of rape attempt, admitted his guilt.

The body of the woman was found in a wooded strip in Colonița on May 30.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
