Aureliu Ciocoi is Moldova’s new Ambassador to Germany

Former acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi was confirmed as Moldova’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. The appointment decree was signed by President Maia Sandu, IPN reports.

In 2010-2015, Aureliu Ciocoi served as Moldova’s Ambassador to Germany and, simultaneously, to Denmark. He also served as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and to the United States. The diplomat studied journalism and communication science and has a master’s degree from the Bucharest National School of Political Science and Public Administration, the Faculty of International Relations. He also held the post of minister of foreign affairs and European integration and acting Prime Minister of Moldova.

President Sandu also signed the decrees to appoint Corina Călugăru as Moldova’s Ambassador to France and Ambassador to Turkey Dmitri Croitor simultaneously as Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with residence in Ankara.

According to the Law on Diplomatic Service, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representatives, Envoys and Chargé d'Affaires (Permanent) - Heads of Diplomatic Missions - are appointed and recalled by the President of the Republic of Moldova, at the proposal of the Government. Proposals for appointment to these positions or concerning dismissal from them are submitted to the Government by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, in consultation with Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration.
