The Government led by Natalia Gavrilița does not take over a good financial situation. Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said the Government’s reserve fund and the intervention fund are empty and the priority of the new governmental team is to supplement them. On the last day of his mandate, the acting Premier wished success to the new Cabinet, saying the Gavrilița Government consists of professionals in their fields of activity, IPN reports.
Aureliu Ciocoi warned the members of the new executive that the financial situation they inherit is precarious.
“The Government’s reserve fund is almost empty. The reserve fund should be supplemented with an appropriate sum so as to resist until the end of the year and to make the necessary payments, including for damage caused by rain and hail. The intervention fund was also emptied after money was paid to those who were affected by the natural calamities and to doctors who worked during the pandemic,” Aureliu Ciocoi stated in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.
At the same time, Ciocoi contradicted Natalia Gavrilița who said that a Government consisting of 13 ministries, not of nine ministries as until now, will not imply additional costs.
“The post of deputy prime minister for digitalization never existed in the Republic of Moldova and necessitates administrative staff. At least ten public servants are needed to assist the deputy prime minister’s staff. Additional costs appear here compared with a Government consisting of nine ministries,” stated Ciocoi.
On his last day of mandate, Ciocoi only praised the members of the Gavrilița Government, primarily his successor as minister of foreign affairs and European integration Nicu Popescu.
“I fully trust him. He is a professional and knows well the international relations. He has a broad network of partners and acquaintances in the European capitals and this is very good for the Republic of Moldova,” stated Ciocoi.
Aureliu Ciocoi said he will not remain without a job after the new Cabinet is voted in. He will return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and will hold the post of ambassador for special missions.
