The OSCE Chairmanship is working and will continue to work actively in close cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Moldova through diplomatic channels on the case of Ilie Kazak, who was sentenced yesterday in Transnistria on treason charges, and the related case of Ernest Vardanyan, said the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press release, the Embassy of Lithuania says the OSCE has paid close attention to the case of Ilie Kazak since his arrest last spring. Audronius Ažubalis came to Moldova on a working visit on February 8. He had meetings with political leaders in Chisinau. On February 9, he met with the Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov in Tiraspol. He concludes his three-day visit to Moldova today, February 10.
