Prime Minister Pavel Filip promises that large-scale projects will be implemented in rural areas to convince the people of the necessity of optimizing the number of local public authorities. He made such statements in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
The Premier said the reform of the local public administration envisions the reduction in the number of mayor’s offices. “We have at least 900 mayor’s offices. I will not speculate whether this is too much or not, but we should take into account the financial capacities of the country,” stated Pavel Filip.
According to the official, they already started to witness resistance to the local public administration reform. “When we speak in general, anyone agrees with the optimization of the number of mayor’s offices, but when we speak in particular, no one wants their mayor’s office to be liquidated. We will propose attractive projects for settlements, such as building of sewerage systems, roads and hospitals, on condition that three-four mayor’s offices unite. Those who will accept will benefit from these projects,” said the Premier.
Speaking about the Government reform, Pavel Filip assured that the posts will no longer be distributed according to political criteria and professionals will be named to manage institutions. There is resistance also to the reform of the central public administration because many do not want to lose their jobs.
