Attendees of CIS youth forum disappointed for not being asked to involve more actively

On December 11 and 12, a CIS youth forum is being held in Chisinau. The event is the second in a row held in Chisinau for the last three weeks. The authorities say such initiatives have special importance for the youth's further development. On the other hand, the ones who are to benefit from forums have divided opinion s about their efficiency. Education Minister Larisa Savga Thursday told media “Moldova has good experience, which can be borrowed by other countries. The forum is to draft proposals to be included into the 2009 action plan referring to the youth from the CIS space”. When asked by Info-Prim Neo, a number of attendees have said their participation in the National Youth Forum in November showed them that most of their proposals did not enter the action plan, as they had been told. Some students have said such fora are organized so that the Ministry accomplishes its plan. “We're but passive on-lookers. Representatives of each CIS state will report about what they do, a resolution is going to be adopted, and our folder with documents will grow thicker. We have no big expectations related to this forum,” one of them said. By organizing the events the authorities pursued to strengthen the partnership among the CIS countries in developing youth-related policies and to enhance the youth's participation in building local democracies.
