Turkish man was arrested by officers of the Customs Service for trying to bring into the country a batch of walnuts kernel and pistachios to the value of US$400,000, IPN reports.
The 37-year-old man initially presented an invoice indicating the real value of the goods at customs posts in Romania. However, upon entering the Republic of Moldova, at the Leușeni customs post he presented a forged document, with a much lower value.
The Court of Chisinau City issued a warrant for his arrest for a period of 30 days. The investigation continues in order to identify any accomplices. At the same time, law enforcement officers carried out five searches in Chisinau and other localities, confiscating the smuggled goods and the truck used to transport them.
