Attackers of National Patrolling Inspectorate team arrested

The police arrested three men aged between 25 and 35 on suspicion that they attacked a mobile team of the National Patrolling Inspectorate in Baurci village of Ceadir – Lunga district on August 3. The Inspectorate’s deputy head Grigore Guzun told a news conference that the two patrolling policemen were attacked with cudgels and stones, IPN reports.

Grigore Guzun said the patrolling team stopped several individuals while patrolling on a street in Baurci. One of the policemen received serious injuries, while the second suffered only scratches. One of them has served in the police since 2011, while the other one since 2014 and have never had disputes with the attackers. The culprits face up to six years in jail. They both have a criminal record.

According to Grigore Guzun, about 80% of the cars of the National Patrolling Inspectorate patrolling in southern Moldova are equipped with video cameras. The attacked car didn’t have a camera. In order to prevent such cases in the future, all the patrolling cars may be outfitted with cameras, while the patrolling inspectors could be accompanied by an employee of the special police brigade “Fulger” while on duty. More than 30 cases when police officers were insulted and threatened have been recorded so far this year.
