At least one month and a half is needed to gather together and collect the trees and branches downed during last weeks’ snowstorms, the head of the Public Amenities Division anticipated. Contacted by IPN, Petru Gontea said the intervention is hampered by the vehicles parked in the yards of apartment buildings.

“We cannot enter the yards and the vehicles loaded with branches cannot pass because cars are parked everywhere. There is a lot of transport on the streets where we need to intervene. We are practically blocked from all sides,” stated Petru Gontea.

He added that the insufficient number of workers is another problem that does not enable to hasten the cleanup works. He called on the inhabitants of the city to become involved where it is possible and gather branches in piles so that the municipal services could easier collect them.

According to Petru Gontea, the collected wood is taken to the National Stadium and near the waste dump in Vatra. Later the authorities will decide who to distribute the wood to.
