At least one Moldovan involved in Lețcani minibus accident

Eight persons were rushed to the hospital, two in a very serious state, after two minibuses with 27 passengers on board, one of which was heading for Moldova, collided near Leţcani commune of Iași County on April 13.

Liliana Pușcașu, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, has told IPN that there was at least one Moldovan on the minibus. The state of the 20-year-old man is stable. It is supposed that the driver of the minibus is a Moldovan citizen, but his identity hasn’t been yet discovered. There were no Moldovans among those who were taken to the hospital.

Prefect of Iași Marian Șerbescu stated for news.ro that according to police reports, the driver of a minibus that was heading for Moldova turned without making sure it was safe and was struck by another minibus coming from behind. There were five persons on one of the minibuses and 22 persons on the other vehicle. There were no children among those hurt.

An investigation is under way to establish all the circumstances of the accident.
